Employee Impersonation by Admins
Impersonation lets an admin open Korero in a new browser tab and see exactly what a specific employee sees - their own journeys, tasks, permissions, and dashboards.
What it is
When an admin uses View as user, a new tab opens showing the platform from that employee's point of view. The admin's original tab stays signed in as themselves, and a clear banner in the new tab shows who is being viewed and who the real admin is.
Why it's there
It's the fastest way for an admin to confirm what an employee is actually experiencing - for example, to check whether a journey, task, or dashboard is showing correctly for that person - without needing a separate test user set up for you.
Who can use it
Admins need the Impersonate Users permission. This is not included automatically with Manage Employees - it must be assigned separately (so you can set admins who can manage details for users and send journeys but not impersonate if you want to).
An admin's Manage Employees scope decides the population they can impersonate within; Impersonate Users just turns the capability on.
How to use it
- Go to Admin → User Management and open the employee's user detail page.
- Open the actions menu and choose View as user.
- A new tab opens and signs in using the admin's existing session.
- The new tab shows the employee's experience with an impersonation banner at the top.
- When finished, click End impersonation in the banner to close the tab and clear the session.
Good to know
- Impersonation sessions expire automatically after about 2 hours if not ended manually.
- Every impersonation start and end is recorded in the target employee's admin history, showing which admin impersonated them and when.
- Admins cannot impersonate themselves.
- Impersonation does not change the admin's password or SSO identity.
- If View as user doesn't appear, it usually means the admin lacks the Impersonate Users permission, or (on access-roles clients) their Manage Employees scope doesn't cover that employee.
