Maintenance mode

Maintenance mode shows your people a full-screen holding page instead of the app, so you can pause access to Korero's interface while work is going on (or for any other reason you have at your end!).

What it is

When maintenance mode is on, almost everyone who opens your Korero system sees a holding page with no navigation, rather than the app. You can show your own message on that page or let Korero show its default copy. It is a toggle on the Platform configuration page.

Why it's there

It gives you a simple way to take the app's interface offline to your people for a while, with a message explaining what is happening, without needing us to do it.

Who can use it

You need the Platform Configuration permission, the same as the rest of the Platform configuration page.

How to use it

Open Platform configuration from the System Configuration section of the admin homepage, or go to /admin/platform-configuration .
On the Main Details tab, turn maintenance mode on.
Optionally add a custom message for the holding page.
Save.
Turn it back off the same way when maintenance is finished.

Good to know

The holding page is titled "Maintenance in Progress". The body shows your custom message if you saved one, otherwise Korero's default message.
Anyone with the Platform Configuration permission bypasses the holding page and can keep using the app. That is deliberate, so you can turn maintenance back off. It also means you will not see your own maintenance message while signed in as an admin. To check how it looks, use an account without that permission.
Maintenance mode only affects the app's interface. It does not stop integrations, background jobs, or direct API use, which keep running. If you need systems fully offline, that is a separate step and not what this toggle does.
After you turn maintenance on, someone whose session has not refreshed yet may still be in the app briefly. Ask them to refresh, open a new tab, or sign out and back in.
If your custom message is not showing, check that maintenance mode is on, that a non-empty message is saved, and that you are viewing as someone without the Platform Configuration permission (admins with it bypass the page).
