Journey progress and nudges on the Usage page
The Usage page in Analytics pulls journey completion figures, the areas that need attention, and your chasing tools onto one screen. You can see where completion is lagging and nudge the people responsible without leaving the page.
What it is
Usage helps you understand progress through assigned journeys. The Overview tab shows status totals for assigned, completed, in-progress and not-started journeys, alongside attention prompts for work that may need intervention. Below that sits the Outstanding journeys explorer, which breaks the remaining work down by manager or by location. Two further tools sit underneath as preview cards: AI Focus suggestions and a League table comparing completion rates.
Why it's there
Chasing journey completion normally means pulling an export, working out which teams are behind, and then finding a way to contact the right managers. Usage does the working out for you and lets you send a nudge from the same view.
Who can use it
Access to Analytics pages is controlled by access roles, so who sees Usage depends on how your roles are set up. In practice, HR and analytics users view and filter the page, admins do the nudging, and managers see it only where their role grants Analytics access.
Nudges are an admin action. You can nudge eligible managers from Outstanding journeys, and employees from the Data tab.
How to use it
- Open Analytics and go to Usage.
- Set the filters at the top of the page - dates, journeys, locations, job levels, user groups, and the Active users only and Approved data only options. Apply the filters again every time you change one, or the figures below will still reflect your previous selection.
- Review the status totals and attention prompts on the Overview tab.
- Open Outstanding journeys and switch between manager and location to see where the remaining work sits.
- Select Show league table, then pick a Rank by dimension. Location shows the next level of your location hierarchy - select a location name to drill down, and use the breadcrumb to move back up. Job level compares appraisal levels.
- Select Suggest where to focus if you want AI Focus suggestions on where to concentrate.
- To nudge, select eligible managers in Outstanding journeys, or employees on the Data tab.
Good to know
- Nudges have a 72-hour cooldown. Manager-team nudges and employee-own-journey nudges have separate 72-hour cooldowns. Anyone nudged recently shows as Sent and cannot be selected again until their relevant cooldown has passed.
- How the league table ranks. Rows are ordered by completion percentage, then by assigned count where percentages tie. Historical dropouts are not counted as assigned.
- What the marker on each bar means. The vertical marker on bars within the League table is the current benchmark. At the location root it is the average for your filtered cohort. Once you drill into a location it becomes that location's average. For job levels it is the filtered cohort average. Green bars meet or beat the benchmark, amber bars fall below it.
- Small team badge. Locations with fewer than five assigned journeys are badged Small team, so you can treat their percentage with the caution a small sample deserves.
- Dropouts do not skew your percentages. Dropout rows stay available for reconciliation, but they do not contribute to Assigned or to completion percentages.
- A missing location row usually means your current filters exclude the assigned journeys in that branch. Drill to its parent and check the filters.
